Congressman James Clyburn announced Tuesday that South Carolina will receive more than $109 million in stimulus money, to be used for energy efficiency and weatherization.
Clyburn’s office told News 2 that about half the money will be provided to homeowners for things such as insulation, repairing leaks and air conditioning equipment.
A family of four that earns less than 44 thousand dollars a year could receive up to $6500.
You would need to apply for the money.
Families can apply by calling the South Carolina Energy Office at 803-737-8030.
The other half of the money will go to state energy programs such as alternative and renewable fuels.
