USC Students Talk Clean Energy to Columbia SC Mayor
COLUMBIA, S.C. — A group of college students that wants to promote cleaner energy like solar and wind power plan to talk about the issue with a South Carolina mayor and a college president.
The students will meet Friday morning with Columbia Mayor Bob Coble and University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides.
The USC students want the school and Columbia to become leaders in the green energy movement.
Many of the students expected to attend the meeting were also in Washington several weeks ago as part of Power Shift ‘09, where more than 12,000 students called on Congress to considerably reduce carbon emissions and create up to 5 million new jobs by investing in clean energy methods like wind and solar power.
